Casual Encountersz is an LA-based reading series mixing lit world legends with artists, beatniks and Instascammers. The series has been profiled by The Los Angeles Times, Document Journal, the Los Angeles Review of Books and others. Founded by writer Sammy Loren, Casual Encountersz has hosted readings across the US, UK, Europe and Latin America.
Emily Witt
Emily Witt is a staff writer at The New Yorker. She has covered breaking news and politics from around the country, and has written about culture, sexuality, drugs, and nightlife. She is the author of the books Health and Safety, Future Sex, and Nollywood. Her journalism, essays, and criticism have appeared in n+1, The New York Times, GQ, Harper’s Magazine, and the London Review of Books.
Brandon Harris
Brandon Harris is the director of Redlegs (2012), the author of Making Rent in Bed-Stuy (2017). His writing has appeared in Filmmaker Magazine, The Guardian, n+1, The New Republic, The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, VICE and many other outlets.

Beau Rice is a writer who lives in LA.
Calla Henkel
Calla Henkel is a writer and artist living between Berlin and Los Angeles. Her debut novel, Other People’s Clothes, was a New York Times Book Review ‘Editors’ Choice.’ She has staged plays at Volksbühne Berlin and the Whitney Museum of Art, and her artistic work with Max Pitegoff has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. She currently operates the New Theater Hollywood. Her second novel Scrap was released last month.
Jasmine Johnson
Jasmine Johnson is a writer, DJ and director from LA. She curates the reading series Factory Made and hosts the underground rave Sycophants.
